Rebecca Van Pelt, LPC

Hi I’m Rebecca. I have extensive experience counseling people who are struggling with anxiety and depression, as well as with adolescents and family
conflict.  I don’t believe that there is a “one size fits all” approach to getting well. I have spent many years doing intense family therapy. I’ve done work with couples and families helping them to get along better, effectively communicate and improve their relationships. I’ve also done a lot of work helping parents target and address problem areas with their children to empower them to manage their child’s high risk behaviors. I find teens to be fascinating, fun and interesting and I love the challenge of building a relationship with them and helping them feel safe enough to open up. I also love working with people who are struggling to find motivation and to find their place in life. It is a great honor to help someone find purpose. Helping improve family functioning is incredibly rewarding as well. I truly enjoy working with all types of people and learning each particular person and situation to see what will be the best course of treatment for them.

My approach is eclectic and client focused as I believe you are the expert on yourself and have the potential to achieve your goals. I like to get to know people and let them drive their sessions but I’m not afraid to dig deeper and challenge the status quo. Most people find me easy to talk to. I tend to utilize motivational interviewing and have a coaching style. I utilize a lot of CBT and solution focused techniques with my clients as I’ve found these modalities to be adaptable to the individual who uses them. I am very strengths focused.  I view anyone who is seeking help as brave and admirable and I take my role in helping people become their best selves very seriously.
